How do I make a WP support forum username into a link?

I have been using these wonderful support forums for a while now, and I notice that certain users have a link embedded in their username.

First of all, I know that it is legitimate! Most of the Mods, Admins, and such have such a link for their username.

But my question is still this: How does one get that kind of a link? Is it just for Mods (admins, etc.)? Is it just for people who have a “www.ads-software.com Profile”? Is it some kind of privilege?

At one point I was under the impression it is either time based or post count. I’m guessing time based since post count would make silly people do silly things…

Side note: Once you get the link it’ll be nofollow, so there’s no link juice to be gained from it.

Hmm, very interesting. Actually, I wasn’t much interested in the “link juice”. It doesn’t sit well with me to try to take advantage of other people’s ratings to support my site. Needless to say, my convictions prevent me from being a “spamster” ??

I thought I would revisit this thread after not posting for a while. I just noticed that My username turned into a link! I am still very curious to know the reason why it turned like that.

So, what I am saying is that my question has changed slightly. I no longer want to know how to get the link (because I already have one), now I want to know why it got there!

I would appreciate it if anyone has any information!

It’s a mystery to me. I’m sure it makes sense to someone. I suspect it is related to activity in some way, though you’d probably have to trawl the bbpress code to figure out exactly how.

It also (somewhat randomly) appears to change when you update your profile.
