How do I modify sidebar meta widget content in twenty fifteen.

1. Log into your account
2. Go to Appearance > Widgets
3. Add widgets or remove widgets to the sidebar on the right

Meta is simply a default if that sidebar is empty of widgets.

I am going beyond that. I want some or most of the content in the meta widget, but want to disable a couple of items.

Thank you for responding. I figured there were some plugin options. But, was hoping to modify the twenty fifteen widget in a child theme. It doesn’t seem as if it should be that difficult.

If I can’t figure it out, I will go with a plugin. If I can, I will post a solution.

the meta widget is actually not specific to Twenty Fifteen, but generic to WordPress.

the code for it is in /wp-includes/widgets/class-wp-widget-meta.php
and as you can see, it is mostly hardcoded with very few filters…

Thanks Michael… I did look at this but was not sure where to edit it. Is there any way to edit this and not lose the changes when WordPress is updated? .. in a similar manner to how we make changes using child versions of our themes?

Hi, actually Michael was right, the meta widget’s content is actually not from the theme itself, it is from the wordpress’ data.

@jjazzbel Wanting to just have ‘login’ in my meta section and nothing else, I deleted the actual meta widget and added a text widget with the login link

i.e. an unordered list with a list item of the link to the login page
