• Looking for any possible solutions on how I can take a video I shot on my Android phone (.mp4 or .3gp) and post it to my self-hosted WordPress site.

I don’t really mind if the video first gets uploaded to YouTube and then embedded, or if it’s done completely on my server. I’m just looking for the easiest way, sort of a one-touch video post.

Using the WP Android app, I can actually upload my video, but it never gets embedded properly! I don’t know if the video needs to first be encoded or something … ?

Anyway, I’m looking for some ideas on how best to do this. I just want the simplest way to take a video and post it on my WordPress blog. Any thoughts?

  • Honestly your probably better off using your android to post your video to youtube and then take the embed code from youtube and add that to your blog post. I messed around with various video plugins and the results aren’t always the best.

I know it’s a silly extra step but for on the go post, this will probably be your best bet.

That’s kind of what I have come up with so far.

One thing I just realized is that the new YouTube app on Android has the option to share to WordPress, automatically inserting the embed code into the post. So while it’s not quite one-press, it’s still pretty good.

There you go. Ya, I’ve looked at lots of video plugins for wordpress, they’re getting there, but unless you have some programming experience to really adjust them, they just aren’t there yet. Also it sounds like that Adroid youtube app is the best option. Besides you’re really better off letting youtube waste their bandwith of serving those videos. It’s free content delivery ??
