It’s possible with Multisite too, but that’s a lot more complicated.

Reading that quickly, is the answer that I will indeed need to install a second WordPress folder and manage the two entirely separately? i.e. have to install all the plugins over again?

Yep, that’s the simplest way. Even if you have to manage both of them separately, that’s likely much easier than going multisite – which has a pretty steep learning curve – so unless you are experienced with WP and willing to jump off the deep end into coding and server stuff, probably not the way to go :)!

You correctly estimated that I am not prepared for that ??

Perhaps you can shed some light on something that may admittedly be a hosting issue and not a WordPress one. I have set up a second WP install in a separate folder.

On my Network Solutions hosting, I have :
    https://www.tanktronic.com pointing to /htdocs/wordpress
    https://www.enlightenedjabroni.com pointing to /htdocs/wordpress3

Not only does going to the new site not take me to the new blog held in WordPress3 folder, it actually automatically changes to pointing to /Wordpress again after a couple hours. Is there something in the root I need to change?

I think you are probably going to need to ask Network Solutions about this.

Also moved this thread out of Multisite forum.
