I recently updated some of the header images on my site, by uploading the new versions by FTP to replace the older versions. The images were already in my Media Library and had already been smushed. After updating them, I need to re-smush them. But I can’t, there’s no option to do this.

The WP Smush field in my Media Library just states “Already smushed”, there’s no link to re-smush these images. I don’t want to upload them again through the WordPress admin interface and change the file references in my theme to the new versions, this is the wrong thing to do. I just need an option to re-smush particular images.

    How can I do this?

    Thanks.

  • Hi @qaws,

Since the details are stored in image meta table, there is no direct way to do that, as you’ve just replaced the image.

Although, you can delete and re-install the plugin, but do mind that, it’ll show that none of the images are smushed, that’s because the stats have been deleted.

After that you can re-smush the required image.

Hope that works fine for you.

    Cheers
