You can make an index.html that will take precedence over the WP’s index.php – an .html index always shows up before the index.php.
Or, you can move your WP install in a subfolder and have an index at the root that shows whatever you want…

Another way to do this is make a template file named home.php and stick it in the directory with your other template files.

Also, there are a number of plugins, including one I wrote, that allow you to make one of your pages the static home page.

To make a .html index: I assume you have some basic skills, just make a webpage with the content you want and upload it.

Is there something else that I should be doing for WP2.0?
Because I uploaded the plugin and activated it.

I prepend the custom permalink with “/blog”.

I then proceeded to the homepage control panel and set my home-page and blog directory accordingly.

I hit “save” and I get the following message;

lone007, sounds like there could be a problem with the file permissions for the plugin file.

Looking at your site, I noticed that you seem to have added “blog” to the “Blog Address (URI)” as well as prepending it to your permalinks’ “custom structure”; you don’t need to do both, as you’ll end up with “blog/blog”.
