    The avatar icon and surrounding block are taking up too mush room. How do I remove the avatar block above the posts on index page? Thanks!

    Thank you Doug for re-posting here…much more room than the 140 characters Twitter offers.

    Regarding your question, I’m not quite sure I fully understand what you mean by “avatar icon”? Could you describe it differently and perhaps a link to show what you are referring to?

    Odd. I had a blank avatar icon appear, but now it’s gone and I can’t reproduce it. Sorry. I’ll mark as “resolved.”

    No worries… things like that happen. Sometimes it’s browser cache that eventually clears itself.

    The avatar has returned. Here’s a screenshot of the avatar. It appears only with status posts. When I change a post to standard, the avatar icon disappears.

    oh, that’s for the status post format only. Think of it being like a Twitter post, but used as updates. You can do this custom CSS

    .format-status .avatar {
        display: none;
    }

    One the live demo site, I created a category for Status posts and hid them from the main blog home page, then created a menu link (under the WordPress menu link) to that category for status posts only.

    Got it. Thanks!
