How do I set up a temporary 'under construction' page while I edit my site?

I feel like this question has already been answered, but I just can’t seem to find exactly how to do it, so forgive me! I’m editing my wordpress site & I made a temporary index page I want to show for the next few hours while I make changes.

I tried pointing my url https://www.madebywe.org to a different folder on my host, but then I can’t log in to wordpress to edit the site. :/

Any help?
