How do I sort featured products by sku

The shortcode [featured_products orderby=”sku”] does show all featured products, but doesn’t sort by sku. The example on https://wcdocs.woothemes.com/snippets/custom-sorting-options-ascdesc/ doesn’t help me solve this.
What should I do?I am using WooCommerce 1.6.6.
