• Need some advise on how to configure WP.

    Here is what I want:

    1. If domain is entered, I want to see a static page.
    https://www.domain.com —> static page

    2. If domain URL is entered, I want visitor to see latest blog posts.
    https://www.domain.com/blog —> latest blog posts
    https://www.domain.com/about —> About Me page

    Currently I have specified:

    General Settings
    – WordPress address —> https://domain.com
    – Blog address —> https://domain.com/blog

    Reading Settings
    – Front page displays
    * Static page —> the page where I want them to be

HOwever, here’s the result I’m getting
when I enter domain.com —> static page — this is OK
when I enter domain.com/blog —> I also get static page — not OK!

    What am I doing wrong?

  • General Settings
    – WordPress address —> https://domain.com
    – Blog address —> https://domain.com/blog

This is not correct Both should be set to https://domain.com

Create a blank PAGE called Blog and another called Home

Go to Admin / Settings / reading
Set Static front Page to Home and Posts Page to Blog
That will accomplish what you want.

Changing the WP or Blog address can at times have unintended side consequences – be prepared.

    STVWLF, thanks so much!

I knew it had to be that simple.

P.S. Yeah I had a little bit of a heartache with the domain name change, but that was BEFORE I posted this. I had to learn the hard way, but no biggie.
