  • Any chance you can provide more background on your issue or share a video of what you are experiencing with the template?

    Hello @jasonfox3

What theme or page builder are you using. There should be an option to disable the fade effect or you could add a custom CSS class to the disable the fading.

@albertsweb 2019. it’s one of the default ones.

Hi! I created a test environment to attempt to reproduce the issue you are experiencing. I activated the default 2019 theme and am creating paragraph blocks. However, I don’t have the issue.

    Questions:

    (a) What type of block did you create/use? E.g. “Paragraph” block?
    (b) Are you using any plugins? If so, which ones?

@dansoschin I’m not using any plugins and I’m making paragraphs. It’s an off the shelf install using Softaculous provided by my shared hosting. Would giving you a Contributor account help you reproduce the issue?

I’m not sure if Softaculous is a theme as I cannot find anything by that name in the WordPress theme directory.

Can you navigate to this area of your WordPress install and confirm the theme name that is active?

Being a contributor probably won’t help in this case.

The other possibility is that your browser has an extension that is affecting the display of the blocks in some manner. You could probably check that by (a) using a different browser and seeing if the issue persists, or (b) trying to edit your page in a private/incognito tab.

Softaculous is just an installer many shared hosts use. It comes with Cpanel.

I’ve attempted to recreate your issue… I built a new WP site with the 2019 theme and no plugins… I set up my block/post editor similar to your screenshot, but I cannot reproduce the fading issue.

    A couple more follow-up questions…

    (a) Are you on the latest release of WP? (Dashboard, bottom right… 5.7.2?)
    (b) What browser (and browser version) are you using? I’m in Chrome Version 91.0.4472.114 (Official Build) (x86_64) using an Apple MacBook Pro

I wonder if it is possible that you have a browser extension (e.g. if you are using Chrome or Safari), that is modifying the text. For example, something like the Grammarly extension, etc. It *shouldn’t* affect your experience, though, unless there’s an extension that purposefully highlights/focuses on text blocks.

Also, you may want to click the triple-dot menu in the top-right and toggle the “spotlight mode” setting. That setting does the opposite of what you are describing, but I’m wondering if something is “messed” up with how the setting is working in your instance.
