• Hi – I am having a horrible SPAM attach from someone in China, and looking at my WordPress subscriber info, I can see they are signing up 100% of the time via the signup form in my sidebar that I created with the List Subscribe form plugin.

Is there a way to add Captcha code, block a domain or first/last name (they always use the same one) or anything with your plugin to stop SPAMMERS from signing up?

    Thanks!

    Given the issue discussed here:

Mailchimp (List Subscribe Plugin) Kills my PHP

The overhead required to serve the page – even if the mailchimpsf is not on it – is quite significant.

Another way to summarize is to say: If your bogus email addresses are being added by “robots” it’s not enough to stop the bogus addresses… you also have to figure out how to thwart the robots. Captcha and related plugins are no help.

For anyone who uses the antispam plugin (see @soybean above), when I updated a WP version, I started getting the registrations again. All I did to solve that was to reinstall the plugin, and that was the end of them.
