This isn’t even remotely a WordPress question.
Google webmaster tools gives you the instructions in its admin interface. You can either add code they give you to the footer or else upload a file they give you.

That was a perfectly valid WordPress question – if your site is with WordPress!

On top of the Google webmaster instructions this plugin has a feature that can help you.

I cant figure out the tutorial I was hoping for a very down to earth and linear answer.

I don’t mean to be rude, but the link I gave you is not very technical at all. It’s not a tutorial, there are three steps:

    1) Log into Google Webmaster Tools
    2) Choose which verification method to use
    3) Depending on #2, they’ll give you code to add to the header section of your site or give you something to name an HTML file to upload to the server. The latter is probably the easier for you. For instance, they will tell you to make a file called 32klj234klj324jlk234jlk234.html
Make this file and then upload it with your FTP client to your WordPress installations root directory.
That’s all there is to it.

    Hello Everybody,

I am sure many blogers are facing the same problem on ” How to verify your wordpress blog” Please don’t tell the same instructions which are written on Google webmaster tools.

I host my blog and I am really confused on the methods which are mentioned on google wbmaster tools- meta method and html link.

If possible please tell me the steps on how to upload the code. And dont use any technical jargon s am not a technical person.

    Thanks,
    Pooja Brahmi.

If you are not willing to learn the “technical jargon” then, maybe, you shouldn’t manage a website.

Wow. I find the responses to the questions to be very rude.
Someone asks for a little help in addition to what may be listed, and you people jump down their throats.

I have had some difficulty using the GWT verification, and it had nothing to do with me not following the directions.

    Geez.

Well, perhaps you’re asking in the wrong place.

This is a WordPress support forum. Not a general “how to run a website” forum. And despite the opinion of the people above, this is *not* a WordPress related question.
