How do I widen columns?

I downloaded a free theme that I like but the first column is not wide enough and the title only accepts a minimum amount of characters before it drops into and over the top of my blog post. The script can be found at https://themes.svn.www.ads-software.com/brownline/1.3/. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
