Can you explain on how WP/LR sync works with keywords / tags / folder ID’s currently? – Do Keywords turn into tags based on all the photos in the LR database or just the ones in the published collections?

Example: We have 1000 photos with the same keyword and one photo with a 100 keywords. Will the result be 100 tags in WP/LR sync?

Example 2: We have 10000 keywords in our Lightroom catalog – will they all get pushed to WordPress?

Due to problems with Resync with extensions hanging on tag generation. I am considering stripping all the tags on our photos and re-uploading them via WP/LR sync. However, this may only need be done with some of the photos or photos with the most tags depending on the logic of the plug-in behavior.

Still working on this problem. – We enabled the debug mode in WP/LR and were able to see the tags in the backend. There are THOUSANDS of them – which is probably what has been hanging our sync. Even when we re-upload the photos with the tags stripped – the tags remain in the plug-in.

At this point most of the tags are empty, meaning their photo count is 0.

Unfortunately, the plugin only allows deleting the tags one at a time from the backend – we are starting with the nestled tags / hierarchy tags deleting one by one with the page refreshing after each delete. It is taking some time.

We will let you know if this will help speed up our resync or if we can get a successful resync at all after this.

In the meantime, it would be great as a feature request to be able to multi-select tags or simply have a button to delete them all (or at least the unused ones) from the WPLR Sync backend.

    Thank you!

    Hi @picsporadic,

I am trying to keep the information about keywords in WP/LR Sync here: https://meowapps.com/wplr-sync-keywords/.

Example: We have 1000 photos with the same keyword and one photo with a 100 keywords. Will the result be 100 tags in WP/LR sync?

It will be only registered once, of course ??

Example 2: We have 10000 keywords in our Lightroom catalog – will they all get pushed to WordPress?

Yes, but keep in mind that keywords are pushed to WordPress through the photos. So if there are keywords you aren’t using anywhere, they will not be sent to WordPress.

At this point most of the tags are empty, meaning their photo count is 0.

You mean, on the Lightroom side? If yes, they should be removed on the WordPress side as well (for those images). Then, when the count of images related to that keywords is 0, the keyword is deleted. That’s if everything works fine, of course.

In the meantime, it would be great as a feature request to be able to multi-select tags or simply have a button to delete them all (or at least the unused ones) from the WPLR Sync backend.

In fact, I am currently re-coding all the UIs for this. In the near future, related to this, there will be:

    – a better Resync with Extensions, with error management (Retry, Skip)
    – options for Resync (with or without tags)
    – a visual editor for the Keywords (to edit or delete them)

You are not the only one with those issues, there are few users as well. Which is why the UIs will be completely redone, I don’t think I should invest time in “fixing” the current ones which are a bit too… old-fashioned ??

Hi Jordy, thanks for your concise reply it is obvious you care about the product.

We are looking forward to the UI – the new features you outlined would be greatly appreciated.

We still haven’t gotten the plugin to resync with extensions – and have moved towards direct integrations with our gallery via your Meow Gallery plugin to cut out the WP Real Media Library from the workflow.

When the new update comes out I’d be happy to donate some money to buy a beer.

    Cheers!

I wanted to follow up with the solution that worked for us:

    • First I deleted all the tags in bulk directly from the database using PHPmyadmin

      _lrsync_meta -> media_tag … (there were over 2,000 entries)

    • After still having problems we upgraded server to 2GB of allocated RAM
    • After 7 weeks last night we finally got the library to sync!
