    Hi Neil,
So, you do need to have a First and Last Name entered in the Users profile… Settings / Permalinks to Post Name done? You just enter the user field details in the Biography area of the Users area.

I’ll assume you have clicked on the Simple Intranet menu in the Dashboard and followed these steps also?

    Setup An Employee Directory

    a) To add an Employee Directory with photos, insert the [employees] shortcode into any page or post.
    b) Add new employees and edit their profiles and upload photo avatars.
    c) Enable options (admins only) under the Employee Profile Page? heading in Your Profile.
    d) An archive of all employee biographies can be found at https://www.simpleintranet.org/demo4/bios.
    e) You must change your Permalinks from “Default” to “Post name”.
USER PHOTOS NOT WORKING? Try checking the option for Use Legacy User Photos? at the bottom of Your Profile.

More advanced options, grid view, forms etc are available in our paid version at simpleintranet.org.

I’m assuming this answer was sufficient and am going to mark this as resolved now.

Hi I cannot get the bio or the avatar to show up on my employee directory.

Also, I can’t get users to be able to edit their bios.

    Please advise.

Also, the edit bios ability is a paid version upgrade, and not available in the free version. Go to simpleintranet.org/pricing to update, but be sure to delete the free version if you do install the paid version (no user data will be lost).
