• HELLO! I am curious as to how web hosts are able to install WordPress once a subscriber singups? I am wanting to design and host custom themes built for a specific niche of people and would like to have this available for them!

    Thank you!

  • Usually they use a combination of cPanel and Fantastico. Users are able to automatically install various scripts such as WordPress or Drupal.

    Thanks for the reply!

As I do not have experience with the hosts that offer the auto-install of WP or even using cPanel and Fantastico; will the install and etc be fully automated? Meaning, will cPanel and Fantastico do all the work for me? I just want to make sure that there’s no need for me to setup anything(ie: pick the theme they want, setting the allowed disc space, email, domain names, etc, etc)

What I really would like to happen is for the customer to basically pick their desired domain name, how much space they would like, what theme, have them enter their billing info and hit accept and have the server do all the setup/install, etc for me… is that someting cPanel and Fantastico ca do?(Sorry if this now just turned into a cPanel and Fantastico question! ?? )

I apologize for the long reply, I’m so lost at the moment to get this going, any help/direction/advise is GREATLY appreciated, thank you!!!

Well, Fantastico is really just an alternate way to install WP so that you don’t have to mess with editing a wp-config file. It doesn’t really do what you’re asking about. I misread your question, sorry. You might look in to WPMU (or wait until WP 3.0). It allows you to have multiple installations of WP that are based off of one central install.
