How do you change main category slug?

    I have just relaunched my site and changed it completely.
    How do I rename the main category slug? When I try to do it, it gives me an errormessage. “Category Not Updated”

    The default one.
    You have to have atleast one category, at all times. This very one. Its now called “news” but I want to rename it to something else.

    Renaming works, but not renaming the slug.

    I had no problem changing a category name or a category slug. You can’t change a category slug to a slug used on another category.

    Deactivate all plugins and switch to the WordPress Default theme to see if the problem persists.

    Done. Still doesnt work.

    Does this have anything to do with permalinks?

    I have 94 posts so far, and all them have permalinks with the previous slug, that I now want changed.

    Is it impossible to change it because of existing posts?

    So change your permalinks to the default permalinks then see if you can change your categories.

    Hmm, that did not work either.
    Why wont this slug change?

    Got not much else–maybe delete/rename your .htaccess file
