So, I have been having a hell of a time reading the WordPress documentation because I don’t think they are finished with it yet, but my question is: Can you create a block template that is not limited to a custom post type?

Can you create a template that is universally used? The documentation shows creating the template variable, but doesn’t cover any other uses beside the custom post type. Is it limited to custom post types? If so, is there a way that I can I emulate a block template for producing reusable structure for my client? Previously, I have used custom fields to load different page types, however with the new editor the data is not being saved in meta like it was and I have to rethink how I approach this.

EDIT: So, the question now becomes instead: Since, I have a few different types of pages I need to create. Is there a way to create more than one block template for a post type? Since I noticed that each type object only has one template property.

Thanks for any information. I am trying to understand how all of this works, so any information that leads me to a viable solution is much appreciated.
