How do you customize individual columns?

I’m trying to add info boxes on my homepage.. The problem is I can’t add borders or background colors to the individual columns? https://demo.controlfreakcms.com. SERVICE ONE, TWO, THREE, and FOUR boxes should look like this https://www.controlfreakcms.com/demo.
Can you please advise on how I’m supposed to do this?
