How do you do more than 96 ad blocks?
-
I use this on a food blog for Amazon ads. I advertise a different food on each post and therefore, a different Amazon ad for it. I’ve now used up all the 96 ad blocks. Can I do more and if so, how?
-
No, sorry. 96 blocks (or ad positions) should be more than enough even for a large website. In order to minimize the number of used blocks check this page:
https://adinserter.pro/faq/the-number-of-blocks
Maybe you can use some other approach. For Amazon you can easily specify what products to show – contextual ads based on post tags ot category:
https://adinserter.pro/documentation/common-settings#amazon
Another solution is to use custom fileds to specify the product in the post and then use shortcode for this custom field in the ad code:
https://adinserter.pro/documentation/manual-insertion#shortcodes
This way only one block would be needed for all the posts.
Thanks for the reply but I’m not sure you understand my need. On a blog with say, 500 posts, in each post want to advertise the food being discussed. For example if it was about acai, you use links for acai powder as seen here: https://www.superfoodly.com/best-acai-powder/
However it it’s about maqui, you use different ad as seen here: https://www.superfoodly.com/best-maqui-berry-powder/
As you see, those use up 2 out of 96. Hitting 96 happens fast. So I do need hundreds.
Unless I can code this field:
<script type="text/javascript"> amzn_assoc_placement = "adunit0"; amzn_assoc_search_bar = "true"; amzn_assoc_tracking_id = "discount008-20"; amzn_assoc_search_bar_position = "bottom"; amzn_assoc_ad_mode = "search"; amzn_assoc_ad_type = "smart"; amzn_assoc_marketplace = "amazon"; amzn_assoc_region = "US"; amzn_assoc_title = ""; amzn_assoc_default_search_phrase = "<strong>barukas</strong>"; amzn_assoc_default_category = "All"; amzn_assoc_linkid = "d21b9803aa2fd437b5228659b544266b"; </script> <script src="//z-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/onejs?MarketPlace=US"></script>
Is there a variable I can put in the bolded section (barukas) that would allow me to custimize this on each post? I looked at your documentation but couldn’t figure it out as I’m not a coder. Thanks
Of course!
Please check again my explanation above – at least two different approaches are possible.
You need only one block for all posts. Thanks for reply. OK so it looks like I need to do this:
Another solution is to use custom fileds to specify the product in the post and then use shortcode for this custom field in the ad code: https://adinserter.pro/documentation/manual-insertion#shortcodes
Ok so let me take block 96 as an example. Right now I insert this in the blogpost to call the ad:
[adinserter block=”96″]
What I’m not understanding is how I modify block 96 to accommodate the keyword variable, and then how I call it.
Do I add [adinserter custom-field=’product-name’] as the code in 96, like as follows?
<script type="text/javascript"> amzn_assoc_placement = "adunit0"; amzn_assoc_search_bar = "true"; amzn_assoc_tracking_id = "discount008-20"; amzn_assoc_search_bar_position = "bottom"; amzn_assoc_ad_mode = "search"; amzn_assoc_ad_type = "smart"; amzn_assoc_marketplace = "amazon"; amzn_assoc_region = "US"; amzn_assoc_title = ""; amzn_assoc_default_search_phrase = "[adinserter custom-field='product-name']"; amzn_assoc_default_category = "All"; amzn_assoc_linkid = "d21b9803aa2fd437b5228659b544266b"; </script> <script src="//z-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/onejs?MarketPlace=US"></script>
And if that is correct, then how do I call it in the blogpost using the custom product name? On [adinserter block=”96″] what do I add for the ability to insert the product name?
Thanks
No, let’s go step by step.
Why do you manually place shortocodes in the posts?
Why don’t you use automatic insertion:
https://adinserter.pro/documentation/automatic-insertionCustom fields are defined in posts – you can then use this data from the posts in the ad code.
You can use this plugin for advanced custom fields:
https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/advanced-custom-fields/Then you use them like in your example above – so you only need to define custom field with name
product-name
and its data in each post.Another approach would be to define post tag(s) and then use them in the ad code.
https://adinserter.pro/documentation/manual-insertion#shortcodesBut if you prefer to manually insert shortcodes for Ad Inserter blocks then you can define custom data in the shortcode:
https://adinserter.pro/documentation/manual-insertion#shortcode-attributesIn your case you put in the post shortcode like this
[adinserter block="96" product-name="WordPress"]
and in the block 96 you use this code
{#product-name:Default Product#}
That line of ad code would then be:
amzn_assoc_default_search_phrase = "{#product-name:Default Product#}";
And inserted code for this post:
amzn_assoc_default_search_phrase = "WordPress";
Hope this clarifies the principle.
Thanks so much @spacetime that worked! I used your steps to modify the first ad slot, so I can customize it on each post. Tried it here with baru nuts (an unusual nut from South America) and it worked beautifully: https://www.superfoodly.com/what-are-baru-nuts-nutrition-facts-benefits/
Your’re right about 96 slots being plenty. Really 3-5 is all I should need.
??
If you like the plugin I would appreciate if you could rate it:
https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/ad-inserter/reviews/#new-postI want to comment here on my requirements to go over the 96 Blocks.
(Happy to open a new topic if required.)I am linking menu images on several pages to “Link to Favorite Destinations” on Amazon.
At present, I have Nine pages on my website that are going to require a total of 94 blocks to achieve this linking.
Then I want to add additional pages so I’m going to be over the 96.As an example:
These are all “After Paragraph” links inserted following the Image, as “After Image” does not work” with Ad-Inserter. But this would also require lots of blocks.
Using Gutenburg for page layout.Electronics page.
Link 1 to Electronic Accessories & Supplies – Paragraph 2
Link 2 to Electronic Camera & Photo – Paragraph 3
Link 3 to Electronic Car & Vehicle Electronics – Paragraph 4
Link 4 to Electronic GPS, Finders & Accessories – Paragraph 5
Link 5 to Electronic Headphones – Paragraph 6
Link 6 to Electronic Home Audio – Paragraph 7
Link 7 to Electronic Office Electronics – Paragraph 8
Link 8 to Electronic Portable Audio & Video – Paragraph 9
Link 9 to Electronic Security & Surveillance – Paragraph 10
Link 10 to Electronic Service Plans – Paragraph 11
Link 12 to Electronic Television & Video – Paragraph 12
Link 13 to Electronic Video Game Consoles & Accessories – Paragraph 13Happy to try any alternative setup.
