How do you embed events?

I tried using:

[fb_plugin events https://www.facebook.com/pg/example/events/ ]

and singular version, event:

[fb_plugin event https://www.facebook.com/pg/example/events/ ]

and with the [facebook] shortcode like on the documentation, which I think is outdated because it didn’t turn into anything, just stays as text:

[facebook https://www.facebook.com/pg/example/events/ ]

and using the embed option:

[embed src=https://www.facebook.com/pg/example/events/ ]

None of these worked. It says it supports events on the first page. What did I do wrong? The documentation for this is all over the place, much of it seems to be out of date.

(note: put a space at the end of shortcodes because the forums jumble the square bracket)
