I represent a WP related website so I thought this would be cool

    Thanks

    Which sure has affiliate links.

There’s nothing wrong with that but an affiliate laden site ain’t exactly about the community. ??

Well of course Jan, it’s a business, just like WordPress is ??

It has no ads, but instead of that it has affiliate links, and it provides value by displaying some of the best themes, and theme collections also

But ultimately, my plan with the site (it’s quiet new) to provide value, and put up lots of WP related tutorials and etc.

My plan isn’t to spam it around, just wanted to have it clickable in my name, so don’t misunderstand my intention

    Thanks =)

    Well, WordPress isn’t a business. It’s an open-source project.

By the way www.ads-software.com already has a page recommending commercial theme vendors: https://www.ads-software.com/themes/commercial/

    Well, WordPress still makes money:

for example WordPress premium costs $100 a year to host on their server

    That’s what I meant.

And I saw that page – but it can’t really be compared to my website where there are articles compiling “Top 50 Business Themes” for your website and so on.

    (@bitwpthemes)

Furthermore, alot of people with links in their names have banner ads on their sites, it’s the same case

    www.ads-software.com doesn’t make money.

    WordPress premium

It sounds like that service is misusing the “WordPress” trademark to make it appear to be affiliated with WordPress. www.ads-software.com isn’t the one responsible for that.

but it can’t really be compared to my website where there are articles compiling “Top 50 Business Themes” for your website and so on.

It’s sounding more and more like your website is not appropriate for www.ads-software.com. The www.ads-software.com forums are here to support the core application, and themes and plugins that are distributed on www.ads-software.com.

Yes, a lot of people try to make money from www.ads-software.com’s forums.

    To clarify:

You can link to pretty much any website on your profile. That is fine. If it makes you money, that is fine.

“Yes, a lot of people try to make money from www.ads-software.com’s forums.”

As I stated, I’m not here to make money from my website. I was pointing out the fact that the affiliate links which you seemed to consider inappropriate are the exact thing as banner ads which are different types of monetization.

I came here to help people out, and won’t be mentioning my link in my comments.

“It sounds like that service is misusing the “WordPress” trademark to make it appear to be affiliated with WordPress.”

Are you telling me the above site is misusing the WordPress trademark? I mean if they did, I don’t know – the WordPress foundation would have sued them a thousand times by now considering the fact that their alexa is 19

“It’s sounding more and more like your website is not appropriate for www.ads-software.com.”

I don’t agree with that, but I respect your opinion.

I keep referring to www.ads-software.com, but you’re talking about WordPress.com.

    Thread Starter BitWPThemes

    (@bitwpthemes)

It’s my understanding that the WordPress foundation owns both. But didn’t you just say www.ads-software.com isn’t responsible for WordPress.com? And you said WordPress.com was misusing their trademark?
