I have a video embedded website powered by WordPress, with a 1000-2000 daily views and the hosting for it is very expensive.
I am now hosting it on VPS which cost me about $420 a year, and my host said I need to upgrade to a dedicated server which cost $1200 a year

What is the average cost of running a wordpress site with 2000-3000 daily views ?

This seems extremely expensive for only a few thousand daily views.

    WordPress details:
    wordpress version 3.1
    12 post per page

    Plugins:
    seo all in one
    wp super cache
    wp pagenavi

Thankyou for talking the time to read this

Depends on your host. The cost is decided by the amount of data that is transferred to and from the server, so if it’s the same content that is being viewed then it would be roughly the same amount.

Have you considered hosting your videos on You Tube (or similar) and then using an iFrame? That way you still get the hits, but the video content is coming from a different server, so you pay less because your data transfer is less.

    Hi thankyou for the reply

All videos are hosted on youtube and similar, My whole website is made from embedded content..

Does the cost for the server sound correct, seeing there is no hosted content on my site ?

My host says im using to much ram and cpu thats why I need to upgrade to dedicated, but it seems somewhat expensive for only a few thousand views when all content is hosted elsewhere

Thanks, I look forward to your reply

The only content that would be sent via my website is the 12 thumbs per page and the theme itself.

Is it possible that there is a problem with my wordpress database which is causing such a high server load ?

    Thankyou again

    Hi

I just got a message from my host, he said my site is victim to cross-site scripting which is causing the high server load.

Could you tell me how to find and remove this trojan, and how to prevent this from happening

    Thankyou
