How is better to install 2 blogs ?

  • Hi,

    I would like to install a domain blog domain.com and a subdomain blog subdomain.domain.com.
    How is the best solution to do it ?
    1. 2 different installs each one with it’s own database ?
    2. 2 different installs both with same database ?
    3. 1 install with 2 databases ?
    4. 1 install with 1 database ?

    5. A bit offtopic.
    If I want to install a forum, I would like to use phpbb, but also to share same user/pass from blog comments, which one from above is better choice ? Or which forum for wordpress is phpbb like and easier to implement ?

    They were different questions, I meant as you said or situation, not all at the same time.
    What is your recomandation ?
    I would like to have same forum for all subdomains, sharing same users.
    I asked 2nd questions since I saw that a theme can be solved with a child theme, but a plugin in can’t be solved with a “child” plugin.

    Oh, okay, it sounded like you wanted all of the above ??

    The same forum on multiple sites would be to just make a forum (either on one or the other) and link to it from both. If you’re using bbPress and Multisite, you can make a site especially for the forum and install it there. All users from all sites can be easily given access by using this plugin:

    * https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/multisite-user-management/

    Just set it so everyone who joins is added to the ‘forum’ site and you’re done.

    If you wanted each site to have it’s own forum with its own users, install bbPress and activate it separately per site. That will automatically give users on each site access

    In both cases, turn off ‘allow anon posting.’

    Either one works.
