• Hi,
I’ve got 10 MB worth of MT entries and comments to import into WordPress. When I first tried to import the entire file, I got a “file is empty” error. Subsequently, I read a bunch of resources which recommended I slice up the file into smaller bits.

I tried a 720 KB file, and got the following error:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 789 bytes) in /var/www/html/wordpress/wp-admin/import/mt.php on line 79

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 0 bytes) in Unknown on line 0

Does anybody know how small I have to cut up these files before WP will accept them? Thanks. DB.

As it turns out, the answer is ‘pretty small’. I was able to import 421 KB. This means slicing my imported entries file into 20 separate sub-files. That licks. Does anybody have any alternative suggestions?
