How long do non-answered posts last before being deleted?
-
I’ve got a question about the forum. I’m wondering about all the multitudes of posts in each of the categories that are very old and still around.
At the top and bottom of the screen in each of the sections of the Support Forum, there are little icons that help users to switch the page number that they are viewing. On one side we have a “1”…. and on the other side there is a number (generally) in the 2,000 to 5,000 range. In many sections, there are posts that are from many years ago, and MANY WordPress versions ago.
So, my question is: Does the Forum have any “clean-up policy”?
In general, the topics from those old pages fall into several categories:
1. Questions that got only one post and then died.
2. Bad topics that got missed, or moderated but not deleted
3. Duplicate topics (from the same OP)
4. Topics with duplicate issues
5. Topics that are irrelevant for current WP versions
6. (I’m sure that I missed some, there could be others)Of course, there may be some that were answered, are useful, are relevant, and should be kept around. But for every topic that fits that description, there are probably ten (or more) that are outdated, faulty, and useless. (Just to make myself clear, this is not an attack on ANY ONE. I am simply observing that there are posts that may no longer be useful.)
Needless to say, is there a current policy which would allow certain classes of forum officials to evaluate very old posts for relevancy?
And if not, should this be added to the “to do” list for improving this forum?I am very curious to see what other people have to say on this issue!
