How many plug-ins have you in wordpress ?

quite a few.. though they’re mostly back-end plugins…

I don’t have any that filter all my output or anything, though. I did look at one guy’s blog the other day and he had no less than 8 plugins which do text replacement on his post content.

that’s a little excessive, I think.

I agree with you anyway – I think plugin authors are wonderful, especially those who update the plugins even they don’t use anymore, when new versions of wordpress come out – those guys are gold-plated heroes.

I cleaned mine up recently because it was embarrassing. I still believe I should have more pairs of shoes than plugins. My personal blog (2.5.1) now has 24 active plugins, down from 42; my business site (2.0.11) has 48. I’m still too much of a wimp to upgrade it to 2.5.1 just yet.

Public Service Announcement: Plugins – less is more

that’s easily said, if you just want a basic blog.

there’s no positive difference between using a dozen plugins and coding it all into your theme.

Well, remember, WordPress IS a blogging software, not intent to be used as a social networking platform nor an e-commerce site (a lot of people are trying to do that).

Not directing to anyone, but a lot of plugins I came across are trash.

A few plugins should be sufficient, 20+ is simply overkilled in my opinion.

I generally use 2-10 plugins.

My favorites are Stats, Sitemap, Google Analytics caching, archivist, search everything, ads, and a few that I’ve written.

I’m currently using 43 plugins, and I’ll decrease that huge number to avoid resource conflicts that I often have with my host ??
