I have a website where I will have thousands of restaurant review listings. I would like to include a slideshow on each of them.

Will this affect my site negatively? I would assume it would, but I wonder what could I do to make sure it doesn’t crash my site or slow it down immensely.

I plan to soon have my site hosted on a shared cloud server and by the time I have 700-1000 listings, I’d be on a dedicated server.

Should I worry about crashing my own site by using too many slideshows?

    Thanks,
    Brian

    Hi Brian,

I don’t think you should worry too much about the amount of space the slideshows will take on your website, as long as you keep number of images per slideshow small and don’t use too many slideshows on the same page.

Also you could perhaps downsize your images to make them smaller in size. Although I see you’re working with images that are not all that big in size.

If, along the way, you notice the slideshows are either costing you too much bandwidth or too much disk space, you can always take precautions by taking them down, or adapting your hosting.

    Best regards,
    Stefan

Thanks, I’d never use more than four pics I think, maybe just three.

Glad to hear it shouldn’t be a problem.

    I appreciate your help.

    Brian
