How Reduce Excerpt Length?

Hi Martin:

Thank you for a fantastic plugin. I’ve noticed that the excerpt length is really long. It posting over 100 words which may preclude the reason for linking. Would you please tell me the preferred way to set the excerpt word count to 40 words?
