How Safe is Updraft to Back Up Posts?

    Hi All,

    I am backing up daily on my Dropbox, absolutely love this plugin, thank you so much.

    Since I have never experienced any hacks and never had to re-upload any previous back up, I had to wonder:
    How safe is UpdraftPlus for posts?
    If something happened to the website, can I count on UpdraftPlus backs ups to re-install all the posts I have written?

    Has anyone experienced a total website failure and re-installed all previous content with UpdraftPlus backup?

    A failure to do so will destroy months of work, so I wanted to make sure..

    Hi,

    UpdraftPlus should be able to restore all your posts/pages and other components of your site. Just make sure you have a good working backup.

    Is there any way to test one has good working backups?

    Hi,

    You can download a copy of the backup, and attempt to unzip the files.
    If the files unzip successfully, then the backup is sound.

    UpdraftPlus will also log and display any errors that occurred during a backup.

    I see 4 different folders but none seems to contain the actual.

    Am I misunderstanding or doing something wrong?

    Hi,

    Apologies for the delay.

    The backup is split into different files, to make processing the files easier.
    Each backup file contains a different section of the wp-content folder.

    No worries, thank you for follow up actually.

    Basically, that means that all the different posts should be there, but split among different folders.

    Did I get it right?

    Posts are all in the database backup file; and their associated media, in the upload backup file.
