Since the “landing page” is not listed in the “Pages” in WordPress, how do we select the “starting/landing page” in WordPress “Reading Settings -> Your HomePage displays?

If I select “A static page”, it’s not available as an option of course, and after saving, the default option selected reverts to “Your Latest Posts” which is very confusing.

Tried to install a “maintenance mode” plugin to hide the website before release, but that makes the website load “Blog/Posts” as the default/landing page, and there is no way to fix it without deactivating the plugin and saving the “Your home page” to (no selection) to make it work again. Means I can’t use a developing plugin to hide the page while working on it. Not sure why the themes default landing page/index page should not be available to select at least from the “Your hompage displays” setting. Even if this theme doesn’t list the default landing page as a “Page”, perhaps you could still make it selectable in WordPress “Your homepage displays”? (without breaking the website for users)

    Hi there,

If we understood the issue correctly, then one of the ways to solve it is just making a empty Home page and assigning to the static page options. It currently doesn’t change anything, but allows to select default blog page.

    Hi,

I could try that but it seems a bit odd to have to create an empty home page. So, I creat a page with nothing in it? What about the title of the blank page?

    The suggestion worked fine, thanks.

I created an empty home page as set it to the be the front page:
