How the popular section shows the themes?

  • Hey there,

    a time ago I thought I knew the algorithm of showing popular themes on the themes page. The default WP themes are shown first, logically. Then I thought the position of other themes is based on the download/active ratio so it gives perfect opportunity for all new themes to be on the top really quick. But my question is now, for example this theme https://www.ads-software.com/themes/basic/, is now TOP, congratulations! But it gives me no sense of the download/active ratio algorithm. It shows it has 8k+ active installs. But when you count all its downloads per day, you will get sum of 7000+ downloads. Some themes have magical ratios, so they have more active installs than the actual downloads? ?? Or there is actually a small ‘dwarf’ running through the WP server XD
