How to access sidebar.php in hosting control panel

  • Dear admin,

    I entered banner html text in the sidebar php. Now I can’t access my website. I must have pasted it in the wrong area. I am in my hosting control panel now. I don’t know where to access the sidebar php file to make adjustments.

    Am I going to have to start a new wordpress site?

  • wp-content -> themes -> your theme -> sidebar.php

    also, you normally don’t need to edit sidebar.php to insert ads… just drag a text widget there (In appearance -> widgets) and put your html code in the text widget

    Thanks a lot. I can upload the banner ad fine, but I can’t get it to position properly. I am trying to place it in the header (right hand side).
