How to add a greeting message on page 1?

    Hi there,

    I wanna give a welcome message to my visitors, which includes my photo and some text saying something like “welcome to my website”. Ive done that by adding a simple HTML code to Main Index Template (index.php).

    Now, the problem is that I want this message only to appear on page one when someone comes to my blog. Right now, when someone visits my website, he sees the greeting message, then five of my posts. If he wants to go on reading, he has to go to page 2, page 3 and so on. So, he goes to page 2 and there are 5 more posts. The problem is that the greeting message is still there on the top of the page.

    How to make a greeting message to appear only in the first page? Is there a plugin or something?
