• I want to offer a free download that says “Click Here To Download” and once clicked automatically downloads the file.

Ive searched the forum and people just say to upload the file and link to it in a post. This just takes people to the file and doesnt download it.

    Can someone help with this?

  • Do you wish to set a Zip file for download?
If its zip then it will get downloaded once clicked on the link.

Generally if you have the URL to your file (zip, pdf, etc.) you can insert that into your posts. See the chain icon in your post editor? That should do it but you’ll need to setup the link before that.

No, that just opens the file.

    Same here, and presently searching…

    This looks promising:

Usually when a digital file is recognised by the browser it does not prompt for download. The file just opens in the browser instead. You can choose to modify this behaviour using the force_dl parameter in the shortcode.

    That plugin works for me: [easy_media_download url="(URL)" text="Download mp3" color="blue" height="30" force_dl="1"]
