How to add a new page to the template?

    Hi,

    I am using a template downloaded from the web; I would like to adapt it by adding a new page type.

    I am wondering once I place the “new_page.php” in the template directory, then which other file I should edit to make it visible in the “Page” section of the WordPress to make it visible and selectable for the any new pages?
