How to add a pw protected PDF download section?

  • Hello community,
    this is my first post, so please forgive me if I’m making newbie mistakes.

    My problem:
    Customer wants a download section on his page, only accessible after a password was entered. So far so good, WordPress lets me set passwords for pages and post. All files are PDF and should be presented as a list with latest additions on top.

    Additionally, he wants the files to be “browsable” by tagging them, so that when the customer clicks on, say, “furniture”, all pdf files tagged with “furniture” should be listed.

    I have absolutely no idea how to do that.

    I tried to do that by separate blog posts for each pdf file, but thats not only looking horrible, its a huge overhead. Tried several file download plugins as well, with most of them just being very complicated or not doing what I need.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.
