How to add a "utilities" menu?

Twenty Twelve only supports one menu. You can add a second, but it requires coding (here is a blog post I found that shows one way: https://zeaks.org/2012/add-second-menu-to-twenty-twelve-theme).

If you want links to appear on every page you could also add them to your site header area. This requires some knowledge of HTML and CSS. In your dashboard, the files to look at are header.php and style.css.

Dp you have a URL to your site as it looks now?

Make sure any modifications to theme files are done in a child theme so that they are not lost when WP is updated…

I am using WP to redesign an existing site for a client.

I’d like the redesign, particularly the 2 menus, to be similar to https://gsmile.org/, which I designed a couple years ago, but which is (obviously!) not a WP site.

lf I know HTML and CSS, should I be able to figure out how to add and position a 2nd menu where I want, simply by creating/modifying styles via a Child Theme?

Or should I look for a theme that more closely mimics what I want to do?

You might be better off with a theme that has more than one menu – looking at your existing site, check out Suffusion – it has TONS of built in options and GREAT support from the developer on his dedicated forums here:
