Hello everyone! I’ve been happily using the Webcomic plugin for my comic Aster and the Fire a little over a year now, but I’ve recently run into some issues regarding posts and my archive. I have set up my archive page through the ComicPress/Webcomic theme editor by customizing a menubar “page” button for my archive-it’s called Post Type Archive. I’ve included a picture of what that looks like below:

This has worked for me so far, but recently I’ve joined SpiderForest, which requires a top and portrait banner to be added to indexed comic pages and landing pages. Because the Archive page doesn’t technically exist as a real page on my website, I am unable to add the banners there. I attempted to remedy this by adding an Archive widget but when I load it it basically says the pages don’t exist, which is…not true?

Maybe I am missing some critical information somewhere, but I did peruse the ComicPress and Webcomic guides/forums, and haven’t found anything similar to my situation. If anybody has any advice, please let me know, and thank you in advance.

  • Hey there! I went into the menu customizer on my own sites (one that uses the Webcomic plugin, another that uses the ComicPress theme), and I can’t find “Post Type Archive” as an add-able option at all. If it’s not a feature of the plugin or theme, that would explain why it’s not coming up on their help forums. Could you have used a different plugin to get it?

…also, if I’m reading the SpiderForest guidelines right, “indexed comic pages” means the individual comics, and “landing page” means the site’s front page. So you just want to add the SF banners as HTML widgets in your general layout — you don’t need to alter the content of your archive page specifically!

Hi Erin! IIRC, I specifically got the Post Type Archive page from Appearance>Customize>Menus and then I added it as one of the menu items. I am not able to do this anymore…not sure if it was inherent to Webcomic plugin or if I installed another plugin and then uninstalled it. Either way, I’m not sure how it is still working at this point.

I wanted to let you know that I took your advice and with the help of SpiderForest I got everything set up! Thank you for your help!

Oh, awesome, glad to hear you got it worked out!
