    Hi,

I wanted a custom text to be added as soon for social media websites such as facebook, twitter, google+, linkedin.

This text should be displayed along with the URl on respective social media sites after the user hits share button.

Like the user clicks on share to twiiter currently only the title page and the url pops in the twitter box, i want something else to be poped in .

    Hi,

That’s currently not possible with Jetpack. For writing an enhancement request, how do you think makes the most sense to set this text?

    Cheers!

    Hi,

Adding a custom text makes really a big sense. We always tend to keep small to medium article tittles due to SEO and other related stuff. But when we have an option such as in Facebook to write a big custom text there is no such option available to website owners.

Adding a custom text makes a lot of sense, due to which in other plugins there is an option available like Hupso Share Buttons, Simple Share Buttons Adder but the issue is this doesn’t work for websites such as Facebook and Google+.

If Jetpack can create a custom text option for at least the social media websites where we can publicize then it would be great.

    Cheers!

With Facebook, for example, if you use a custom excerpt (and Jetpack’s Open Graph tags), it will display that text as part of the sharing.

Even though we sent the title as part of the URL for posts when using our sharing buttons (as opposed to the official ones), Facebook overrides it with Open Graph tag information.

With Twitter, one thing to consider is ensuring we stay under the 140-character limit, which is one reason we do limit it to the title, URL and the “via” tag when it is set in the Sharing settings.

    Thanks.
