• Hi,

I am looking to use the Eventbrite API so that my Eventbrite events are fully integrated into my site and the customer never gets taken away to another site when completing a purchase.

It seems i can achieve this by using the Eventbrite API. What i am struggling to understand is how to add the code into my theme? Do i copy and paste it into functions php file and then amend it to fit my requirements? I have an API key too.

I’d appreciate anyone being able to explain this to me as right now i’m totally confused.

    Thanks

  • You’ll need to create and add code to interface your WordPress to Eventbrite.

There is a WordPress compatible widget for EventBright over at Eventbrite itself.

And there’s an article about incorporating Eventbrite into your website in their blog but I think it’s Widget and WordPress dot com centric https://www.eventbrite.com/blog/wordpress-and-eventbrite-better-together-ds0c/

The good news is there’s a plugin https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/eventbrite-api/. The plugin should work with their API.

    Hi @jnashhawkins

    Thanks for your reply.

I’m looking at the documentation here https://github.com/Automattic/eventbrite-api and i’m not sure where i’m supposed to use the code.

Unfortunately, that plugin doesn’t work with the latest version of WordPress and it’s no longer being maintained ??

    Thank you!

Yes, I saw the ‘tested up to 4.9.9’ and was hoping it will still run with 5.0.3 (or 5.0.2). You might want to try it anyway if you haven’t already and you might want to install the Classic Editor plugin before you do if you don’t already have that setup as your default editor.

If it will run on 4.9.9 then it might run on 5.0.X. Possibly it just doesn’t work with the Block Editor.

Just my guesses on the above but that’s the course I’d take if I wanted Eventbrite on my site. I’d even go as far as dialing back my install if I needed to until the plugin came up to meet the latest greatest WP version.

When i installed it, it sort of broke everything and i had to remove it directly in my hosting account. I think, like you said, the only way now would be to dial back my install but as they’ve stopped maintaining the plugin, i’m apprehensive!

    Thanks ??
