Hi! I am creating a simple giveaway. It’s just asking for the email. I want to collect more data in my entries. How can I do that?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hi @shayan555, you can add more fields under Giveaways > Settings > Form.

Hello Igor, thanks for your reply.

I added many fields but they are not showing up on the giveaway page.

Are you using a caching plugin? If so, exclude the giveaway from cache.

Try checking it in an incognito mode if possible.

Yes I did check it in an incognito mode as well but the issue remains. Do we just have to create the fields in Giveaways > Settings > Form and they will appear on there own? Or do we have to add them somewhere as well?

Hi @shayan555, no they should appear there on their own.

I am currently hiking so I can’t check it. But once I get home tonight, I will check the issue.

    Sure Igor. Have safe hike.

Hi @shayan555, I’ve checked it myself and I don’t see an issue why fields would not show up.

Here is an example of a giveaway on the site: https://www.wpsimplegiveaways.com/giveaway/twitter-example/

Could you show me the screenshot of the form settings?

You are sure you’ve excluded the giveaway page from the cache or you don’t use any caching? This issue might be present if you are using a caching system (be it a plugin or on a server level).

Igor here’s the screenshot of the general settings of the plugin: https://prnt.sc/r2w5ev

And yes the plugin is excluded from cache.

Hi @shayan555, would you mind showing me the form settings (not the general, but under the tab Form)?

    Sure. Here it is: https://prnt.sc/r2w9iz

Hi @shayan555, thank you for showing it!

I see there are a number of fields there. Do each of them have the “Field Key” inserted (I guess they do, but just asking to be sure)?

Also, could you let me know which caching plugin do you use? I might try it out and see if I can provide a specific set of rules to exclude the giveaway page, so we can exclude that one as well.

    Thread Starter shayan555

    (@shayan555)

Oh… So the issue was that none of the fields had “Field Key” inserted in them. I was under the impression that the Field keys will be auto generated. Thank you so much for pointing this out.

Can you please let me know how can I made hide the rules in a button and make them visible whenever someone clicks on it.

Hi @shayan555, they are not auto-generated but good point. I might have that done in a future version.

To hide the rules, after the visible text (if you want any) add the <!–more–> tag (same as when showing only the first few sentences of an article in WordPress.

Got it. Once again thank you so much for your. It’s a great plugin and I’ll now keep playing more with the features now. I hope you won’t mind if I ask some other questions in future.

Hi @shayan555, I am really glad you find it great! I am trying to make it better with each new version. You can ask as many question as you want ??

Going to sleep now since it’s 1am where I live. So, if you have any questions, I’ll try to answer them tomorrow ??
