How to add gallery from plugin/PHP

    How can I add a gallery from a WordPress plugin? I have a list of ID’s of uploaded media, I want to add a gallery, get the gallery’s ID and display it using a shortcode (I know how to do that last part).

    I’ve gone trough all the documentation I could find and looked at Nextgen’s code, but I can this function. It must be somewhere, I guess it is used in Nextgen as well.
