• I want to add .html extension to all my posts at the end.
However i know it does speed up anymore but values too much in terms of SEO.

Search engine gives more preference to html pages. that is why many big websites uses .html at the end of every post one the example website i know is https://www.shoutmeloud.com/

How i want my wp posts to look like:

    Current example wp post url:
    https://pnrstatusirctc.in/premium-tatkal-irctc/

After adding .html at the end all wp post url should look like:
    https://pnrstatusirctc.in/irctc-pnr-status.html
    – Its an pure html page i created but all wp posts should follow this url pattern.

I know this can be done through .htaccess rules but what is that rule? can somebody help me out in this.

    Thanks.

  • Hey Ankit,

For posts you can just modify your permalink structure and append the .html:
    Example: /%postname%.html/

For pages, you can use a plugin like this one:
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/append-extensions-on-pages/

I just tested on a local install and it works fine.

As for SEO, I don’t believe the .html extension works. The reason you see that in big websites like you mentioned is because they are using a cached version to load the page faster. And page speed does matter in terms of SEO.

    I hope this helps.
