How to add new colors to an existing product.

    I don’t think this is an issue with the new update. This is just me not quite understanding how the process works. Please show me where I am going wrong.

    I have six existing colors setup as attributes to Cashmere Yarn Colors. I made the variations, and all is working as expected, for months.

    Now, I have five new colors to add to this Cashmere yarn. I added these color to the Products > Attributes section under the existing Cashmere Yarn Colors Attributes. This seems to work fine.

    When I open the product, I am unable the add these five new yarns colors to the variations. In the product editor, under the Attributes tab. When I click Custom Product Attribute drop down, all my attributes groups show up, except the Cashmere Yarn Colors is grayed out, and I cannot select it. So, I cannot add the five new colors and make the new variations entry.

    With Mike’s help, I figured this out. Here are the steps, once you know the trick, it is easy.

    – Edit the product in question.
    – Go to the Attributes tab
    – Hover over “Cashmere Yarn Colors” or your attribute name!
    – See the red REMOVE pop up, just left of this a small triangle – click this, to open the attributes list box
    – Once this box opens, the rest is easy. Click the Add New button, and add your new colors
    – Once you have added your colors, Click Save Attributes
    – Go to the Variations tab – select the Add Variation and the Go button. This gives you an empty variation, and you can select your new color from the drop down.
    – Don’t forget to add the price.
    – Save the product, and review it online
