Hi, I use Jetpack Newsletters with the Newspack theme. For some reason I do not know, the Jetpack Newsletter Block is not showing so I cannot use it. I have to just use the Insert at the end of Articles option. is there a way I can use the block or insert the newsletter subscription form in a page? Shortcode does not include paid subscriptions, so it’s not a solution.

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

Let’s try to fix that issue on your site. Fixing this will allow you to use the block in any post or page.

Could you go to Jetpack > Settings > Newsletter, and confirm that the feature is enabled there? If it is, and if you still do not see the Subscribe block when creating a new post or page, could you go the block editor preferences and ensure that the block is not hidden there, like so:

Let me know what you find!

Thanks Jeremy, but unfortunately I cannot see the block on Preferences. I guess the Newspack theme does not support the Jetpack subscription block, which is really a pity. I wonder if there is a way of copy/paste raw code to achieve this.

The block should be available regardless of your theme. It is added by the Jetpack plugin and can be used with any theme, unless some other code on the site unregisters the block.

Do you see other Jetpack blocks in the block editor, or is the Subscribe block the only one that’s missing? If so, could you try to deactivate all other plugins on your site, one at a time, in order to find out if a specific plugin on your site disables the Subscribe block?

Let me know what you find out.

Hi Jeremy, you are right, I found a plugin which is disabling the block, Newspack Blocks (https://github.com/Automattic/newspack-blocks). Unfortunately for me, this plugin is essential for the theme to work. How can I override the disabling?

You’re right, the plugin appears to disable Jetpack’s Subscribe block, to avoid confusion with Newspack’s own newsletter solution.

If you’d like to use Jetpack Subscriptions instead of Newspack newsletters, and since you’re a Newspack customer, it may be worth reaching out to the Newspack team about this, to let them know what you’re missing with Newspack newsletters, and if they would consider making Jetpack Newsletters an option again. They’ll be in a better position to help, since they’re more familiar with the Newspack Newsletters feature.

Thanks Jeremy. I’m not a Newspack customer, just use the theme as it is free to install and customize. I managed to edit 2 files of the plugin and delete references to unregister Jetpack Subscription Block and it works. I wonder if there is a way to do it from functions.php so I can update in the future without editing.

That’s a good point. I created an issue to keep track of your idea:

    https://github.com/Automattic/newspack-blocks/issues/1901

If you have a GitHub account, I would recommend subscribing to the issue so you’ll be notified as soon as the team implements a way for you to toggle the Subscribe block back without modifying the plugin files.

Thank you very much Jeremy! I’m going to subscribe to the issue right now.

    Hey @labrujulaverde,

It looks like we can close this thread as you’re going to follow the issue in GitHub directly.

If you have any further questions or need more help, you’re welcome to open another thread here. Cheers!
