how to add pagination to presswork theme?

hi,

i’d like to add pagination in two places on my site. first place is on my blog page. https://www.lizartlizard.com/blog-2

second place i’d like to add pagination is on static pages. i’m adding weekly sketches, i.e. each page would be a week of sketches so i’d like them separated out with page numbers. i tried addiing it here: https://www.lizartlizard.com/sketchbook/ but it’s not working right. i tried using the wp pagenavi plugin but would preferrably like to accomplish this without use of a plugin.
