• Hello,

As the title states, I am trying play videos that are stored on another host.

I use Kimsufi (https://www.kimsufi.com) to store files and I rent a 2TB plan.

My website is hosted on Go Daddy.

I am doing it this way because I don’t want to have over 100GB of videos on my websites host (Go Daddy), so as to not slow down the website when someone streams videos.

I have tried many plugins that offer the ability to play self-hosted videos but none seem to work.

If I add the direct link, “https://mystoragewebsite.com/videofolder/videofile.avi” for example, no video plugin will play it, but if I put the link in the URL bar, the video will download.

I simply have no clue how to get it working.

Any help and ideas are greatly appreciated.

Research how to embed videos in html. WordPress makes it easy to embed YouTube videos and some other web sites, but if it’s not one that is supported, you’ll need to learn how to code the HTML yourself.

There are lots of options depending on whether you’re only going to support HTML5 and modern browsers, and what format(s) the video is in.

    Hi there,

Ok I figured it out. It turns out .avi format sucks on browsers! I’ve managed to get mp4 format working so it looks like I have a lot of converting to do!

    Many thanks
