How to add Twitter-like (not Twitter) posts to front page

I have a client who wants to post short twitter-like messages on her front page. She wants to be able to sit in a restaurant and post as she eats. For some reason, she doesn’t want to use Twitter. Is there a way to do this? I haven’t been able to find one.

I would suggest enabling a feature called “Post by email”, in order to do this you have to install and ativate the JetPack plugin. Once installed, you click go to JetPack / Settings and then on the “Writting” tab.
This will give you the option to generate a secret email address. Then your client can easily post to the site by just sending an email.
It will then depend on what theme you are using, as some themes support different post formats. But in the best case scenario, your client would have a very easy way to post to the site.
